Gustavo Monteiro is a Porto and Brussels based dancer and choreographer.

 He graduated at SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance) in 2014 and he studied ‘Management / Production of Performing Arts’ at Forum Dança in Lisbon in 2017.

Since 2013, he has worked with choreographers, composers and visual artist such as Michikazu Matsune, Martin Nachbar, Jozef Frucek & Linda Kapetanea, Helder Seabra, Marco da Silva Ferreira, Tiago Rodrigues / Companhia Instável, Compagnie Thor – Thierry Smits, amoung others.

He has created in 2015 ‘Looking for the face I had before the world was made’ and in 2016 ‘Unsettling Green’ and ‘Persona’, all in collaboration with Francesca Perrucci. This works have been presented in festivals and venues such as: Teatro Municipal do Porto – Rivoli . Campo Alegre, Festival Internacional de Danza Contemporánea de ça Ciudad de México, PRISMA – Festival Internacional de Danza Contemporánea de Panamá 2018, 25ª Quinzena de Dança de Almada – International Dance Festival, Entrelaçados – Contemporary Dance Festival, RollOut Dance Film Festival, Dance Bridges Festival, Movimiento en Movimiento – 6º Festival Internacional de Danza para la Patalla, the performance bar, It’s Liquid Art Show, etc.

He is the co-founder of ‘Sekoia – Artes Performativas’, a Porto based structure of production, programming, research and development, creation, distribution and promotion of contemporary creations in the field of dance as well other performing arts, visual arts, literature and cinema.

 He is currently working on a new creation in collaboration with Edu Turrul, working as a performer for the choreographer Thierry Smits and, through ‘Sekoia – Artes Performativas’ producing the event ‘DDD Pro’ in collaboration with Festival DDD – Dias da Dança 2019 and a new artist residency program in collaboration with Ana Rocha.
